ABOUT THE CLUB

About Skegness Cricket and Supporters Club...

We are situated in the county of Lincolnshire, right on the east coast of England in Skegness - one of the oldest and most famous tourist resorts in the country.

Skegness Cricket and Supporters Club has a long, rich and colourful history, and we have been in existence since at least 1877. Our Richmond Drive ground was once known as being one of the finest in the country and is still renowned throughout the area for the facilities it provides. That it is in existence at all owes a lot to the 9th Earl of Scarborough who was instrumental in developing it, along with much of the town of Skegness.

As a members club our main purpose is to provide a service to local people of Skegness. The club is run by a committee, which is elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. Key memberships fall into four main categories - Social, Cricket, Hockey and Squash - and the club currently boasts membership in excess of three hundred.

The Club offers a number of key services to its members:

With a superb location and attractive setting we are fortunate to have a fantastic cricket ground, with many sides making significant journeys to play us. The ground is available for rent during summer weeks and we regularly have visitors that do just that, arranging various games and events. The cricket section has three main senior sides – 1st XI & 2nd XI League sides and a Sunday XI league side – providing an opportunity for cricketers of all standards to play on a regular basis. Spectators are always more than welcome, there is no entry fee to the ground unless you bring a car and then normal car parking fees apply.

With its own squash court, Skegness Cricket Club has a thriving squash section that currently has in excess of 60 playing members.

Skegness Ladies’ Hockey Team uses the club as their base. Although they now play on the Astroturf facilities provided at the Grammar School, the ladies still return to the club for food after home games and all hockey players are registered members of the club. The hockey section at Skegness is currently undergoing a significant period of reform – with a core of hard working and dedicated volunteers the ladies have developed a thriving junior hockey section in Skegness and it is hoped that in the long term a men’s hockey side can be re-formed.

With a pleasant environment and drinks at reasonable prices, the bar offers all members an excellent opportunity to relax in an informal environment.

During the winter months, junior football sides take advantage of the facilities hosting matches on the ground. We welcome anybody to join us. Anyone interested in taking part in any activity at the club can make further enquiries at the bar which is open every evening, or contact us through our contact page.
